유럽전문가 및 문화콘텐츠 전문가를 양성하는 학과
1963년에 설립된 불어불문학과는 서구인문학의 근간을 이루는 비판정신을 바탕으로 프랑스의 언어와 문학을 심도 있게 연구하여 현재와 미래의 제반 문화적·사상적 현상에 대한 창조적 비전을 제시할 수 있는 어문학 분야 전문가, 문예 비평가, 전문번역가, 문화산업의 실무자 등으로 활약하며 문화의 국제교류와 한국 문화의 발전에 기여할 인재 양성을 목적으로 삼고 있다. 이를 위해 중세부터 현대에 이르기까지 불문학의 주요 사조 및 장르를 망라하고, 불어학의 주요 분야 및 이론들을 포괄하는 교과목을 개설하고 있으며, 다른 한편으로는 한국-프랑스 간 문화 및 사상의 교류를 도모하고, 인문학 탐구의 다양성에 주안점을 둔 ‘번역’을 학과 특성화 키워드로 삼아 학문 간 소통과 사회와의 소통을 추구하는 학제적 교과과정을 설치하여 운영한다.

■ 국제화 시대의 프랑스어 구사력 강화
- 3학년부터 프랑스 리용 카톨릭 대학에 6개월간 교비 어학연수
- 재학 중 프랑스어 전공강의 18학점(6과목) 의무 이수
- 졸업 전 프랑스 국가공인 시험 DELF B2단계 이상 합격 의무화(07학번부터)
Department that Trains Experts in Europe and Cultural Content
Established in 1963, the Department of French Language and Literature is dedicated to the in-depth research of French language and literature based on the critical spirit that forms the foundation of Western humanities. It aims to produce individuals who can contribute to international cultural exchanges and the development of Korean culture by serving as experts in the field of language and literature, literary critics, professional translators, and cultural industry practitioners who can provide a creative vision for current and future cultural and intellectual phenomena. To this end, the department offers various courses that cover major trends and genres in French literature from the medieval period to modern times as well as major fields and theories in French language studies. In addition, with translation as its specialty, the department seeks to promote cultural and intellectual exchanges between Korea and France and offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that focuses on diversity in humanities research and seeks to facilitate both interdisciplinary communication and communication between various disciplines and society.
1. Educational Goals
■ Development of individuals with talent in French language: training experts in the fields of internationalization and regional development with advanced proficiency in French language

2. Specialties
■ Translation: translation as a tool for cultural and intellectual exchanges between Korea and France
■ Strengthening of proficiency in French language in the era of internationalization
- School-funded six-month language training program offered at Lyon Catholic University is available for students starting in their third year of study.
- Students must acquire a minimum of 18 credits from major courses (6 courses) in French language during their enrollment at Korea University.
- Students must acquire level B2 or above in the DELF, the French national diploma for proficiency in French language, before graduation (commencing with students who entered Korea University in 2007).
